Our passion to bring you the highest qualities packs demands our versatility and investment. Innovation is never possible without investment.
Milestones include:
The birth of our garlic business for the garlic dehydration and processing industry.
Thomson International became incorporated under the leadership of Jeff and Elaine Thomson, emphasizing fresh marketing and exports to Mexico, Central America, and the United States.
The purchase of Phase One of our packing plant was monumental to our existing operations. Over the next decade, this enabled Thomson International to become a year-round supplier—counterbalancing seasonal imports from South America and Mexico with those from the United States.
The refurbishment of the cold storage (an innovation borrowed from the "high tech" apple industry) for our produce also proved invaluable to our success.
The acquisition of Fresh Peeled/Consul Pack brought peeled garlic production to the mix of fresh garlic.
The entire fresh clove peeling operation moves to Bakersfield to join the fresh bulb packing, cold storage and shipping facilities.
The watermelon sizing and packing line was acquired.
The bell pepper sizing and packing line was purchased.
The upgraded onion sizing and packing line was built.
Innovation enables Thomson International to provide the convenience of one-stop shopping by adding motre products and services into the pipeline.
Additional retail packs will be available in the summer 2010.
Sweet potatoes and sweet corn could be available in a couple years.
For our existing onions and bell peppers, we are developing fully automated packaging systems for weight, precision sizing and consumer packaging.
As a fully integrated grower, packer and shipper, Thomson International uses innovative seed varieties to generate an increased flavor profile and longer growing seasons. We seek out and purchase the best hybrids available, and create research plots for most plantings.
Additionally, more advanced computer software ensures the accuracy of order processing and shipping.
